Monthly Archives: March 2008

Why is it that right after we put our house up for sell, EVERYONE on the street decides to put their houses on the market too?!?  What is up with that???  I’m not really sure a bigger selection helps when you’re trying to sell a house…

It all starts this Sunday at 6:30 at the warehouse. I venture into the world of student ministry. Although I’ve worked with students before, this is the first time that I’ve had to put it all together. I’m pumped about what God wants to do through our students to reach this town for Christ. We’ve got some great volunteers and some great kids wanting to see God move in awesome ways… So ya’ll get ready… UPrising is here and there is plenty more where that came from.

Well, I just joined the facebook group entitled “I survived the Canton Easter Egg Drop”… This is true. I did survive, and I also learned exactly how redneck the people of Canton, Georgia can be! :) The Egg Drop was CRAZY! You can read Gary’s unfolding stories of the day here. But, I will tell you, for all of you skeptics out there that were wondering if people would come…The answer is YES. In fact, we planned for about 3-4,000 people and we got 13-15,000 people. And another 5,000 people were sitting in the “parking lot” that became of Highway 20. I know some of you were also wondering if the eggs would bust open when they were dropped. No, they did not.

All in all, the day was insane, but awesome. I’m so pumped about doing it bigger and better next year!

Here are some pics from the day’s event.

Don’t know who was in that bunny suit, but Zoe sure loved you!

About 30 seconds before the real chaos began

This means that I did not die this morning. :) I had a blast. Thinking about getting a bike… oh wait… I don’t have any money. :)

With everyone trying to get ready for this weekend, it’s been a crazy week around the office… but tomorrow is going to be even more crazy. I’m getting up in the morning and going bike riding with Gary, Tim, and Adam. Have I ever mentioned that I don’t bike ride?!? When I told Jill where I was going in the morning, she laughed her head off. She seems to think that I may not be able to move my legs by Sunday. This could be the case, but I’m still pretty pumped about it. We’ll see how it goes… You may need to pray for me. :)

Anyone who knows Zoe knows that the key to her heart is through food. My girl LOVES to eat. This weekend, she found my stash of snacks at the Merrefield’s. I captured the moment on my new iphone. :)

Well, if you haven’t already read Gary’s blog, TODAY WAS CRAZY! Anything and everything that could have gone wrong this morning did! We didn’t have sound for the first run through this morning, and I broke a string during the first service which sucked. It happened to be on the only song where everything else falls out of the mix except my guitar. We did a little a cappella rendition of “God of this City” unintentionally. I think by the second service we had nothing left to go wrong except me falling off the stage or something like that and thankfully that didn’t happen. Even with all that we battled this morning, God still moved. It was awesome seeing people write the names of their family and friends that they are praying will come to know Jesus. It is my prayer that next week every person represented by a name on those white boards will be at Revolution Church. I guarantee you that we will do everything in our power to make it the most memorable event ever to come to Canton, GA.

I’ve been a bit slack about blogging lately, but it has been a CRAZY week… good, but crazy. Monday when the lead staff came back from lunch, there were new iphones on our desks. Yes, you heard me correctly, iphones for everyone. So, playing with that has consumed a lot of my week. :) Then on Tuesday, Gary, Tim, Adam, and I went to see Kid Rock in concert. On top of all of this, we’re getting ready for Easter and it’s going to be off the chain!!! Friday night, we’re having a Good Friday prayer service, Saturday is the Easter Egg Drop, and Sunday we’re launching a new series: Rockstar. We gave out Rockstar energy drinks with invites on them today. I can’t wait for next weekend!

A big part of leading worship at Revolution is being able to bring the energy/emotion. It’s digging deep and finding that passion that is the why behind what you do and then pouring it out into those you are leading. I’ll admit that I’m a reserved personality, however this is an area that I’m being stretched in. Tim is awesome at this. You just can feel that he is moved by what he does. He let’s it fly. I, on the other hand, have to work on it (not the passion, the showing of passion). I want people to know that Christ is the best thing that has ever happened, or ever will happen to me or anyone else. I want to bring that to the table every time. So how do I get to this point? For me, I think it’s going to take a few things. The first is I’ve got to study my craft. I’ve got to get to as many shows as I can. I need to watch passionate performers in their environment doing their thing. I definitely don’t do this enough. It’s going to take me living and breathing what a particular song is talking about. How can I be passionate about something that I’m not living? It’s gonna take me being aware of how I’m perceived is how I’m received. That is a biggie and has to always be on my mind when leading people from the stage or elsewhere. I got to hear a great talk about this last week. I’m realizing more and more that to be effective, I’ve got to be constantly growing and evaluating where I’m at on these things.
